Updates for 2018 are to squeeze as much compression out of the motor as possible and take some weight out.
Compression came in at 15.1:1 by sending a mold of the combustion chamber to Diamond Racing and having
a custom dome piston made.

We made a mold of the TFS-R combustion chamber for this year.
Sending off to Diamond for a set of custom gas ported pistons.

 

- Removed the two heavy AGM 16v batteris and replaced with an 8lb Li battery
- Installed a set of 28" stiff side wall slicks
- Fitted and painted a pair of Motor City Solutions fiberglass doors
- Refreshing the tired 359. Will be a 363 with higher compression (from 13.7 to 15.1) and a lighter piston with thinner ring package
- Should be down to 2800lb race weight

Thanks to Matt Bell at Redline Performance in Bloomington, IL for tuning the new combo.
Dodged a bullet early on when we discovered the extended tip spark plugs need to be indexed.
Tight with the big domed pistons indeed. So had to tune with a recessed tip. Not optimum.
And also you'd think I have been doing this long enough to remember my laptop for the RacePak.
It was therefore impossible to dial in the crankcase vacuum in the time I had.
Although with last year's setting of 13" it did make +12 rwhp across the board.

So there is more there but still not too shabby. Almost cracked the 600 rwhp mark
with 26" tires and 5.14 gears in the 9".
